lion stalking prey

Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.

1 Peter 5:8 (NIV)

Had a pretty scary dream last night. Don’t remember all of it but I do remember this part of it…

I was walking down a road or a path with other people. We were in a dangerous place because there were alligators hiding. Lots of them. We knew they were all around us and we didn’t want to get attacked. In the bushes or off in the nearby distance I could hear someone screaming as they were being attacked (eaten) by alligators. This man who was being eaten was screaming and screaming. It was horrible.  I knew I had to get to a safe place, a house, although this house was also surrounded by hidden alligators. There were people in this house; I knew them as my people (family? friends?). Anyway, it was dangerous to walk down this street to get to this house. Someone, a woman, showed up in a car and offered to drive me (us?) to this house. She drove me, and I got into the house safely, although I knew there were still alligators on the side of the house… I knew I couldn’t go there and didn’t want anyone else to go there either. But some of the people were still outside of the house near the alligators, not really paying attention to them. For some reason I then got into the car and drove her back to where we had come from so she could save others. Then the dream ended.

Ok, so how am I interpreting this weird scary dream?  I’m walking through the valley of the shadow of death… a place full of predators. These predators are on the prowl looking for people to devour, and I have to protect myself from them and get to a safe place. By devouring it means not focusing on God and doing, acting, behaving, thinking, focusing on… things that are wrong, things of this world that satan wants to distract us with which are not God’s ways. A savior shows up and brings me to that safe place. The savior then leaves to bring others to this safe place. The savior is Jesus. He is waiting at the gate for whoever wants a ride to safety, to God. To heaven. Home. He will bring us there. We just have to accept the ride, the passage through danger. Despite being in safety (with Jesus and home with God) there is always danger from predators (satan) who are trying to take us from Him, so we have to be very careful not to be taken unaware, or to fall into satan’s traps. The End.

There’s more…
